Review: The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I smiled. I snort-laughed. I teared up a little. Like so many Christina Lauren books, The Unhoneymooners is like a hilarious post-date phone call from your BFF and, while she’s describing a litany of romantic flops and foibles, the whole time you’re just sitting there thinking… ‘yeah, she’s gonna marry this one’. So good.

In particular I felt a kinship with Olive. I don’t like admitting it but I am a total pessimist and have MANY times believed that I have been singled out by the universe for uniquely crappy luck. And, like, Olive, I’ve learned that this is a self-centered, fear-driven way to be in the world. It was lovely watching Olive’s journey.

And Olive and Ethan are very sexy together. I live for a good enemies to lovers story.

The Unhoneymooners is set to release in May. It’s everything palm trees and island breezes and fabulous banter. It will be a perfect pool-side read. Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read an advanced copy.

Synopsis

Olive Torres is the self-proclaimed unlucky twin. While her sister, Ami, wins everything from contests, to sweepstakes, to life in general, Olive lives under a hovering rain cloud and it follows her everywhere she goes. Including her sister’s perfect wedding where Olive is stuck with her future brother-in-law’s snobby brother, Ethan Thomas.

Then, when disaster strikes and the ENTIRE wedding party (except Olive and Ethan) gets food poisoning,  Ami begs the two of them to take the free Maui honeymoon package she won. Ethan might be a drag…but Olive certainly isn’t going to turn down a free vacation to Hawaii. So…they go. And what could go wrong(so right)?!

Happy Romance Reading!
