This was my very first Kate Bateman book! Will definitely be reading more from her.
I picked up a few wiffs of some old school historical romance elements in this book and that was pretty fun. For example, Georgie runs off to Newgate to pick a condemned man to marry on order to avoid her terrible cousin’s advances. Is that way OVER THE TOP? Well, yeah. But sometimes that’s a lot of fun. This was consistent throughout the book. Classic romance drama that we all dig so hard.
I thought Georgie and Ben had good chemistry…they had some amusing, witty interactions and that was entertaining. There were a few moments when I wanted the plot to move a little faster but overall this is a solid historical romance. Dependent upon your reading mood, I think lots of you will enjoy this one.
