Review: Ten Kisses to Scndal by Vivienne Lorret

Avon, 2018

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved. It. Vivienne Lorret’s love stories are delicious and emotional but what I adore most about her writing is how she so skillfully builds relationships between her bright, vivid characters. The more VL you read, the more you will see how each of her couples are so uniquely themselves. There’s absolutely nothing cookie-cutter about a VL love story.

Ten Kisses to Scandal has all of the above and more. Briar was my favorite part, hands down. A breath of hopeful, adorable air. She’s joyful and romantic without being naive or eye-roll inducing. And she’s smart. If you ask me, it takes a lot more strength to maintain hope and a sense of wonder than to give in to cynicism. Which is exactly what Briar teaches Nicholas. Their relationship is honest, and reverent and sensual and basically everything one could need for a heart-squeezy good time. I enthusiastically recommend Ten Kisses to Scandal.

Ten Kisses to Scandal is the second book in the Misadventures in Matchmaking series and it’s set to release on December 24th…Merry Christmas to you! While you wait, if you haven’t already, you should also check out the first book in the series, How to Forget a Duke. I really loved that one too. Thank you Edelweiss and Avon Romance for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy.

Synopsis

Miss Briar Bourne is the youngest of a trio of professional matchmaking sisters. Unfortunately, up until now, she’s been a bit of a matchmaking flop. She’s desperate to prove herself to her overly-protective sisters and, thus, there’s only one thing to do: enlist one of London’s most notorious rakes to give her lessons in…attraction.

Nicholas Blacklowe, the Earl of Edgemont, is the walking antithesis of the starry-eyed and romantic Miss Bourne. He’s jaded by love but hides it with humor and he reluctantly (but not so reluctantly) agrees to help Briar but only on the condition that she see his two cousins married. And (because he’s a big ‘ol rake) he  also wants one kiss in exchange for/as part of every lesson…

You can imagine how that turns out…*wink*

Happy Romance Reading!
